Room Design Ideas and Picking Wall Art

When we think of room design or decorating a living room, formal space or any space that guests might see when visiting our home, we often think of picking out paintings or prints of painting. I'm talking about displaying wall art.

Paintings are elegant and colorful and if they are original works, they can be very valuable and expensive. A professional work of art such as a painting might make for a great conversation piece in a dinning room or living room and be thought-provoking for your guests as well. Then there is the task of picking out frames for your art work. This task is almost as important as picking out the piece of art itself. Picking the wrong frame can make the art piece over powering or underwhelming and throw the entire room off completely. Lets face it, picking out artwork for a living room, formal space, or any room in your home is not easy and it can make or break the whole experience of the room.

Photo prints are another popular option for home decor. Whether they are black and white or color, a strong photograph can set the tone for a room. A high quality photo print can set a theme for a room. One example of a theme would be a destination.

Another great photo option is a large triptych photo print. These are large frameless pictures divided into 3 equal sized panels. This tends to soften the effect of the photo and help it blend in better than a single framed photo or painting. And because the large photo is divided into 3 panels it displays more like a collection of art work. You can cover an entire wall with one triptych photograph, making it the focal point of the room or accenting colors already present. Also, they display best without frames. This will save you lots of money and the added headache of finding the right frame and mounting the art work.

There are many categories of triptych photography, such as Landscapes, Seascapes, Nature, Still life and even Cityscapes. You could feature a view of the New York City Skyline at night or a view of a moon resting over the Brooklyn Bridge. You could feature a view of the Golden Gate Bridge stretching out into the fog or a beautiful picture of Venice, Italy coming to life at night. There are many possibilities and many stories to tell with a great photograph.

A high quality triptych photograph displayed in a living room or dinning room can be elegant, thought-provoking and a great conversation piece for your guests. You could pick a view of your dream vacation, a view of a place you have always wanted to visit or a tropical beach scene of a place you have been to many times. You might want to display a triptych still life photo of objects that complete the scene you have already created.

Picking art for any living space can be a complicated task for anyone. There is no right or wrong for individual taste. I personally like my rooms to tell a story and I find that Triptych Photographic wall art does this easily and affordably.
